The Changing Face of LGBT Representation in Popular Culture

In the last decade, support for the LGBT community the world over has successfully gathered overwhelming momentum and acceptance. Though there’s still a far way to go, as of April 2013, 15 countries have declared legal support for marriage equality. In America, same-sex marriage has already been legalized in the states of New York, Rhode Island, California, and Washington.

An important factor that changed attitudes about the LGBT community is its representation in mass media.
